Ağız kokusu binlerce gazdan meydana gelmesine rağmen popüler gaz ölçen cihazlar 1 veya 3 tane kokulu gazı ölçebilir. Halbuki portatif çoklu gaz ölçer cihazlar ile 100 den fazla gazı yakalamak mümkündür. Bu sebeple Halitorium ağız ve nefes kokusu ölçüm ve teşhis muayenehanesinde portatif çoklu gaz ölçer cihaz kullanılmaktadır.
Örneğin Methyl acetate keskin kokan organik bir nefes kokusu gazıdır. Şeker hastalarının nefesinde bulunan asetoasetat (Ethylacetoacetate) ve aseton (acetone) organik bir gazdır. Decane isimli gaz keskin kokuludur, burun içinde asılı kalan 10 karbonlu bir stres gazıdır, organik gazdır. Sadece çoklu gaz ölçen cihazlar tarafından tespit edilebilir. Başka bir örnek : putrescin ve cadaverin sıklıkla bademciklerden yayılan azot bazlı bir gazdır. Sayılan bu gazlar sadece sülfür ölçebilen cihazlar tarafından kolayca ve özgün şekilde ayırt edilemeyebilir. Sadece çoklu gaz ölçen cihazlar tarafından tespit edilebilir.
Halitorium klinikte insan nefesindeki 250 den fazla kokulu gazlar tespit edebilen uluslar arası hakemli SCİ dergilerinde yayınlanarak kabul görmüş tescil edilmiş, benimsenmiş ve atıf almış cihaz kullanılmaktadır.
(Aşağıda bu cihaz tarafından tespit edilebilen 185 tane organik koku, 68 tane hidrokarbon , 18 tane azot bazlı koku = toplam 271 tane kokulu gaz listesi yer almaktadır.)
